Retail Tourism

Retail map of Manitou Springs

The cultural map of Manitou is in part driven by the retail economy, and its abundantly diverse collection of shops. The quirky and cute mom 'n' pops are an attraction unto themselves, and reflect back the many cultural shifts Manitou Springs has seen in its history. Shoppers from all over the world stroll past the charming 19th century architecture. One can purchase gemstones and jewelry from Southwest Silver Company. Patsy's serves up candy and custard as it has for over 100 years to kids running around the adjacent Penny Arcade. The Poppy Seed is a nod to the hippie past, and in some circles present, of Manitou. Mavi Turkish Arts pulls in curious shoppers with its shimmering rainbow of pottery and chandeliers. D'Colores is one of a handful offering up Mexican folk art to bring home from the Western U.S. On any given day, locals and tourists are here in search of the unique, interesting, and quintessentially Manitou.
